BRG Data Science Division

BRG Data Science (DS) Division is established in 2021 by distinguished academics. DS Division aims to provide consulting services and training programs for financial and industrial institutions.

Online certificate programs on "Data Science" and "Machine Learning" with Python are designed for participants working in related fields such as marketing, sales, PM, IT and even HR. The Division aim to provide data-driven perspective and an experience where the participants learn the basic concepts and modern tools of data science by working on various applications.

Science of Data Online Certificate Program for Insurance Companies

October 2022 - June 2023

Program Details

The Science of Data (SoD) Certificate Program, specially prepared for Aksigorta and AgeSa with an insurance-based content, will take place between October 2022 and June 2023. Teams are working on machine learning, artificial intelligence and data analysis for six months and six modules with a total of around 50 participants from Aksigorta and Agesa.

Cemal Deniz Yenigün, Ph.D.

Professor

Professor Yenigün received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Middle East Technical University (METU) and his doctorate in Statistics from Bowling Green State University in 2007. He has been assistant professor at Bilkent University Faculty of Business between 2007-2014, Dr. Yenigün joined the Department of Industrial Engineering at Istanbul Bilgi University in 2014 and has been serving as the Head of the Department in the same department since 2018.

Articles; Published in prestigious international journals such as the Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, Computational Statistics and Data Analysis, Communications in Statistics and Social Networks, Professor Yenigün also has two projects supported by TÜBİTAK. His work has focused on statistical learning, variable selection in regression, dependency measures, survival analysis, and network analysis.

Umman Mahir Yıldırım, Ph.D.

Dr. Yıldırım received his undergraduate degree from Istanbul Technical University, Department of Industrial Engineering, and completed his Master's and Doctorate degrees in Industrial Engineering at Sabancı University. After working as a researcher at Southampton University and Eindhoven Technical University in 2014 and 2015 with a TÜBİTAK research scholarship, he started to work as a doctoral faculty member at Istanbul Bilgi University Industrial Engineering Department in 2016.

Articles; they have been published in prestigious international journals such as Computers & Industrial Engineering, Information Systems Frontiers, and IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems. His research interests are focused on Applied Optimization, Machine Learning and Metaheuristic Approaches, and he has been conducting projects and trainings on decision support systems, process automation, data visualization and persuasion by numbers for more than 10 years in various sectors.

Doruk Şen, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor

Dr. Şen received his bachelor's degree from Yeditepe University Industrial and Systems Engineering, his master's degree from University of York Business and Finance departments, and his Ph.D. degree from Marmara University Engineering Management in 2020. After his graduation he joined the Industrial Engineering Department of Istanbul Bilgi University as a research assistant. As of 2021, in the same department, Dr. Şen continues his duty as a full-time faculty member.

Articles; He has been published in prestigious international journals such as Information Systems Frontiers, Sage, Utilities Policy and Energy, and he has a Scientific Research Project in the field of Machine Learning where he continues his research. His research has focused on optimization studies in the fields of Machine Learning, Metaheuristics and FinTechs.
